Robert F. Bromenshenkel, age 86, of Sauk Centre died Feb. 27, 2007 at the St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Mar. 2 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and Friday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m. followed by Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Robert Bromenshenkel was born May 18, 1920 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Albert J. and Elizabeth (Meyer) Bromenshenkel. He was united in marriage to Elsie Kulzer on October 6, 1953 in Sauk Centre. Robert and his wife, Elsie farmed southwest of Sauk Centre and retired in 1983. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sauk Centre, Charter member of Bishop Joseph F. Busch Council #4863. He ushered for funerals, did mission work with Key Ministries in Mexico, and worked with the Glenmary Missions in Claxton, Georgia. He enjoyed learning about the South, enjoyed visiting with people, helping them, bringing them Holy Communion and praying with them.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Bromenshenkel of Sauk Centre; children, Susan (Ken) Fix of New Ulm, Geralyn "Geri" (Jeff) Nienaber of Sauk Centre, Norbert (Maggie) Bromenshenkel of Stafford, VA, Herbert (Jana) Bromenshenkel of Bemidji; daughter-in-law, Terry Bromenshenkel of Faribault,; 8 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Verena Steffes, Leonard (Leona) Bromenshenkel, Allan (Mildred) Bromenshenkel, Irene (Ray) Trisko, Jane (Cyril B.) Meyer, and Dorothy Bromenshenkel; sister-in-law, Hildegard Bromenshenkel, all of Sauk Centre, Esther Winters of West Union, Mary (Dan) Gritzmacher Langer of Pierz, Evelyn (Allen) Siegle of Long Prairie and Lillian "Tootie" (Eli) Lucas of Eau Clare, WI.
He was preceded in death by his son, Walter Bromenshenkel, his parents; infant brother, Lawrence Bromenshenkel, brother, Victor Bromenshenkel; and sister, Rita Bromenshenkel.
Cross bearer will be Megan Fix. Scripture bearer will be Sarah Fix. Casket bearers will be sons, Norbert Bromenshenkel and Herbert Bromenshenkel, and grandsons, Nathaniel Fix, Brian Nienaber, Jason Nienaber, and son-in-law, Jeff Nienaber.
