Richard A. Von Wahlde, age 81 of Sauk Centre, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. James Statz will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by St. Paul's Catholic Aid at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Richard Von Wahlde was born June 23, 1929 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Edwin and Johanna (Bussmann) Von Wahlde. On November 11, 1952 he married Alma Voller at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Ward Springs, Minnesota. The couple resided in Sauk Centre and the Twin Cities, where Richard was employed at Waldorf Paper Company in St. Paul. They returned to the area in 1959 and farmed north of Sauk Centre in Kandota Township, Todd County. They retired in 1988 and Richard was employed for over ten years at Fleet Supply in Sauk Centre. Since August, 2008 they had resided in Sauk Centre. Richard was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and St. Paul's Catholic Aid.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Von Wahlde of Sauk Centre; daughter, Gail Von Wahlde (Chad Strunk) of Plymouth; granddaughter, Jacqueline Strunk; brothers, Elmer (Shirley) Von Wahlde and Ray (Rita) Von Wahlde, all of Sauk Centre; brother-in-law, Gerald Weiner of Elrosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eddie Von Wahlde; and sister, Betty Del Weiner.
Serving as casket bearers will be Brian Von Wahlde, LeRoy Weiner, Dean Voller, Susan Ahrens, Linda Marthaler, and Barb Behm. Cross bearer will be Keith Voller. Honorary bearers will be members of St. Paul's Catholic Aid.
