Richard Smith

Richard A. "Ricky" Smith, age 58 of Harding died Monday, November 9, 2009 at Harding Place in Harding, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 16 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre.

Richard Allan Smith was born July 25, 1951 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Patrick and Irene (Gillies) Smith. Richard served in the United States Air Force from 1970 until he was honorably discharged in 1974. Ricky loved working on airplanes, reading and playing chess.

Richard is survived by his mother, Irene Engel of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; sisters, Sandra Kirby of Virden, Illinois, Lillie Glover of Shawnee, Kansas, and Patricia (David) Webster of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; brother, Michael Smith of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; nine nieces, Diane Roberts, Kim Cotterman, Sondra Glover, Theresa Griffith, Cindy Olivarez, Stephanie Slone, Tyra Smith, Traci Smith, and Ginger Smith; three nephews, Randy Olson, Derek Anderson, and Andrew Smith.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Smith; step-father, Archie Engel; brother, Terry Smith; and grandparents, Clarence and Josephine Smith and John and Mary Gillies.
