Richard "Dick" Polipnick, age 79 of Sauk Centre, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 3 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m.
Richard George Polipnick was born December 10, 1929 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Edward and Amelia (Steffes) Polipnick. On November 16, 1950 he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Pappenfus at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose, Minnesota. Dick enjoyed sports, especially golf, telling stories and jokes. He loved family get-togethers and spending time with his friends.Dick was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid and the Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853. He served as a greeter at St. Paul's Catholic Church, was a former State Fire Marshall and most recently served his clients at the Polipnick Insurance Agency.
Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann of Sauk Centre; children, Susan (Steve) Dold of Sauk Centre, Patrica (Greg) Barber of New London, Sara (Al) Sibell of Alexandria, Judith Polipnick of Annandale, Amy (Tim) Stefans of Brooklyn Park, Maria (Jerry) Minette of Sauk Centre, Kathryn (Joe) Uphus of Sauk Centre, Karen (Mark) Kemper of San Diego, California, Beth (Darin) Pilacinski of North Oaks, Philip (Jacque) Polipnick of Sauk Centre, and Ann (Bob) Meyer of Sauk Centre; daughters-in-law, Myrna Polipnick -Griffin of Prior Lake and Kay Marquardt of Victoria; 17 granddaughters; 22 grandsons; 10 ½ great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Edna) Polipnick of Sauk Centre and Juleen Johnston of Boulder, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his sons, Michael Polipnick on March 11, 1990 and Mark Polipnick on August 25, 1963; grandson, Elijah Meyer on August 22, 1999; brothers, Allen, Jack and Jim Polipnick; sisters, Virginia Blair and Rosie Kosek; and brother-in-law, Dave Johnston.
Serving as casket bearers will be his grandsons, Benjamin Dold, Justin Barber, Branden Sibell, Luke Polipnick, Jack Stefans, Marcus Minette, and Jacob Uphus. Cross bearer will be Richard Polipnick and scripture bearer will be Nicole Ward. Honorary casket bearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
