Richard C. Kuhlmann, Sr., age 68 of Grey Eagle died Friday, June 18, 2004 at his home after a battle with cancer with which he has won and is now at home with the Lord.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 21 at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Grey Eagle. Pastor Jon Benson will officiate. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
Richard Kuhlmann, Sr. was born on December 16, 1935 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. He was raised by his grandparents and attended school in Melrose. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Paavola on September 21, 1963 in St. Paul. Richard worked various jobs and always loved a new challenge and a new place to go. His first love was the love of Christ and knowing the Lord. He enjoyed his family and friends and loved the outdoors, especially mowing the lawn and blowing the snow.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Kuhlmann of Grey Eagle; children, Michael Hatlestad and his wife, Renee of Grey Eagle, Christine "Crissy" Kuhlman of Williams, MN, Richard "Buck" Kuhlmann, Jr. and his wife, Sherri of Grey Eagle, and Vicki Peterka and her husband, Dale of Grey Eagle; nine granddaughters, three grandsons, and one great-granddaughter; sisters, Mary Lee Larson of Brainerd and Bernice Kraker of Coon Rapids; and brother, David Hilger of Melrose.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Hilger and step father, James Hilger.
