Richard D. "Dick" Briggs, age 71 of Sauk Centre, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, November 12 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at funeral home.
Dick Briggs was born May 1, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Vernon and Rose (Wandrie) Briggs. He was a long-time resident of Brooklyn Park, where he owned and operated Custom Saw Service. He moved to Sauk Centre in 1997, where he continued to sharpen saws. He also worked at McDonald's and then as a custodian at Sauk Centre Public Schools, until his illness forced him to retire.He attended Harvest Community Church in Sauk Centre.Dick loved to make things, enjoyed fishing, bird watching, and singing.
Survivors include five children, Charlene (Brad) Johnson of Eden Prairie, Randy (Krissy) Briggs of Brooklyn Park, Denise (Jeff) Pirk of Brooklyn Center, Suzanne (Jeff) Torguson of St. Cloud, and Roxanne (Mike) Lynch of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Vernon (Gloria) Briggs of Marshall, Michigan; and sister, Dorothy Grande of Brooklyn Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Sheila Bethany Pirk; brother, Melvin Briggs; and sisters, Violet Olson and Bernice Jones.
