Raymond E. "Ray" Sorenson, age 83 of Grey Eagle, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 surrounded by his family at his home in Grey Eagle, Minnesota.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21 at Grey Eagle United Methodist Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Gary Taylor officiating. Inurnment will be in Lakeview cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Grey Eagle United Methodist Church.

Raymond Eugene Sorenson was born July 22, 1927 in Leonard, Minnesota to Leonard and Amy (Lindmark) Sorenson. On September 22, 1990 he married Lois Knuth Capp at First United Methodist Church in Pasadena, California. Ray moved to California in 1949 and retired to his home on Big Birch Lake in 1997.

He was an active member at Grey Eagle United Methodist Church. Ray was very gifted when it came to his two passions, woodworking and photography. He also enjoyed sailing, collecting cars and antique tractors, and was quite a handyman.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Sorenson of Grey Eagle; daughter, Pamela (Kevan) Thomas of Rancho Cucamonga, California; step-daughter, Catherine Capp of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Brandon Thomas, Whitney Calvillo, and Anthony Capp; two great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Leslie (Joyce) Sorenson of San Luis Obispo, California, Delores (Pete) Jepsen of Fairmont, Roger (Pam) Sorenson of Fargo, North Dakota, Doreen Nichols of Nampa, Idaho, Gordon (Thelma) Sorenson of Arlington, Larry (Loanne) Sorenson of Arlington, Mervin (Naomi) Sorenson of Maple Plain, Kye (Terry) Maveus of Anoka, Wayne (Diane) Sorenson of Park Rapids, and Lance (Monica) Sorenson of Hector.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Stacy Anne Sorenson.

Serving as urn bearer will be Anthony Capp. Honorary bearers will be Ray's brothers, Leslie, Roger, Gordon, Larry, Mervin, Wayne, and Lance Sorenson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Grey Eagle United Methodist Church Building Fund.
