Raymond J. Hiltner, 77, of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 at his daughter's home in Sauk Centre.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2004 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Melrose Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Inurnment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Melrose.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Melrose Veterans Honor Guard will pray at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Raymond J. Hiltner was born on June 7, 1927 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, MN to John and Agnes (Dickhaus) Hiltner. Ray served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Alice M. Mohs on June 14, 1958 in Melrose, MN. They lived in Melrose where he worked for the creamery. They moved to Eden Valley where he managed the creamery. They then resided in Minneapolis where he was employed by Wonder Bakery, Young Quinlin and WCCO TV. He retired and they moved to Sauk Centre. Ray enjoyed gardening and his lawn. He was a member of the Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 and served on the drill team for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Hiltner of Sauk Centre; children, Lori Heath (Tim) of Maple Grove, Sue Hiltner, and Lynn Hiltner, both of Sauk Centre, Donald Hiltner and Ronald Hiltner (Tammy) both of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Kyle, Mallory, Donald, Cassandra and Stephanie; brothers and sisters, Martha Butkowski of Freeport, Ludwina Wolbeck of Grey Eagle, Melvin Hiltner (Irene) of Burtrum, Alphonse Hiltner of Melrose, Leander Hiltner (Linda) of Scandia, Clarissa Barthel (Eldred) of Ward Springs, Anna Mae Speldrich (Donald) of Belgrade, Cyril Hiltner (Carolyn) of Belgrade.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, granddaughter, Shana; brother, Edwin; and sisters, Leona Wolbeck and Juletta Kunstleben-Wolbeck.
