Raymond C. Frericks, age 84 of Sauk Centre, died Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 28 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m. Sunday evening.
Raymond Claude Frericks was born August 29, 1925 in Freeport, Minnesota to Herman and Walburga (Beste) Frericks. On August 16, 1949 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Austing at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. The couple spent their married life farming in Birchdale Township, Todd County. Ray enjoyed farming, playing cards, traveling and most of all, spending time with family and friends.
Ray was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre and the Little Sauk American Legion Post 417. Ray served on the St. Paul's Church board and the Birchdale Township board.
Ray is survived by his special friend, Fran Terhaar of Sauk Centre; nine children, Dorothy (Jerry) Jorgenson of Fairmont, Gerald "Jerry" (Linda) Frericks of Sauk Centre, Kenneth Frericks of Wadena, Eileen (Ken) Maus of Melrose, Beverly (Mark) Wiechman of Freeport, Shirley (Mark) Roberg of Sauk Centre, Bonita (Steve) Scholz of Melrose, Luann (Eric) Peterson of Grey Eagle, and Lois (Jesse) Vlaminck of Spicer; 31 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Elmer (Marcella) Frericks of Melrose and Ervin Frericks of Fridley; and sisters, Esther (Alvin) Hinnenkamp of Sauk Centre, Alma (Justin) Schulte of Freeport, and Louise (Don) Haskamp of Blaine.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine Frericks on August 13, 1990; parents; brothers, Ambrose, Roman, and Jerome Frericks; and sisters Marie Zwilling and Florence Austing.
Serving as casket bearers will be his daughters, Eileen Maus, Beverly Wiechman, Shirley Roberg, Bonita Scholz, Luann Peterson, and Lois Vlaminck. Cross bearer will be his son, Gerald Frericks and scripture bearer will be his daughter, Dorothy Jorgenson. Serving as honorary casket bearers will be his sons-in-law, Jerry Jorgenson, Ken Maus, Mark Wiechman, Mark Roberg, Steve Scholz, Eric Peterson, and Jesse Vlaminck, along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
