Raymond Eggert

Raymond C. "Ray" Eggert, age 56 of Avon, died surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer on Friday, September 12, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 16 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Jonathan Licari, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church gathering area. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. followed by the American Legion Post 482 at 7 p.m. Monday evening.

Raymond Eggert was born November 30, 1951 in Albany, Minnesota to Albert and Marcella (Dirkes) Eggert. He graduated from Albany High School and received a degree in Diesel Mechanics from St. Cloud Technical College. Ray served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. On June 26, 1976 he married Alice Kleve in St. Francis. He was employed at Larson Bus Service in Sauk Rapids and was currently employed with Knife River, formerly Bauerly Bros. Ray enjoyed sight seeing on a Sunday afternoon, taking trips with his family, snowmobiling and spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany, Eagles Club in St. Cloud and Albany American Legion Post 482.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Eggert of Avon; children, Jennifer (Scott) Wilke of St. Augusta, Jason (Emily) Eggert of St. Joseph and Chad (Marie) Eggert of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Morgan Eggert, Ellie Eggert and Payton Wilke; brothers, Albert, Jr. (Becky) Eggert of Salem, OR, Larry (Judy) Eggert of Albany, Fred (Carol) Eggert of Avon, Danny, Mike, Lloyd and Jim Eggert all of Albany.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Joshua Eggert; and niece, Jody Kleve.

Serving as casket bearers will be his brothers, Albert, Jr., Fred, Larry, Danny, Mike, Lloyd and Jim Eggert. Cross bearer will be Corey Eggert and scripture bearer will be Marissa Eggert.
