Raymond H. "Ray" Brickweg, age 92 of Melrose, died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 18 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Ken Thielman officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Knights of Columbus and Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Raymond Herman Brickweg was born March 15, 1918 to Frank and Mary (Altendahl) Brickweg in St. Martin Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. Ray farmed east of Melrose until his retirement in 1968. He then moved to Little Birch Lake until 2000 when he became a resident at Park View Manor.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Knights of Columbus, Council #1623, and Sts. Bernard & Elizabeth Council. Ray enjoyed fishing, looking for agates, walking, and bowling.
Survivors include his sisters, Alma Herges of Melrose and Marte (Al) Toenies of Royalton; sister-in-law, Jeanette Brickweg; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norbert Brickweg, Frank Brickweg, and Clarence Brickweg; and sister, Ann Woeste.
Serving as casket bearers will be Randy Herges, Jim Brickweg, Joe Herges, Paul Brickweg, Richard Herges, and Sharon Brickweg. Cross bearer will be Mary Kerfeld and scripture bearer will be Mary Schneider.
