Ralph Braun, 94, of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully August 27, 2019 at Sauk Centre CentraCare Nursing Care Center (formerly St. Michael’s Care Center) in Sauk Centre.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel presiding.   Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre.  Visitation will continue 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.  Interment with military honors will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Sauk Centre.

Ralph was born to Edward and Katherine (Wengler) Braun in Lake George Township (Elrosa) Minnesota, the third oldest of 12 children.  He joined the U. S. Navy in 1943 and proudly served his country.

Ralph married Mary Ann Wiebolt on October 13, 1947 at Immaculate Conception Church in New Munich.  The couple resided in Albany where they owned and operated Albany Home Bakery.  In 1961, they moved to Sauk Centre where they owned and operated Ralph’s Home Bakery until their retirement in 1985.

Ralph was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.  He was very active in the community including Commander of Paul F. Donart VFW  Post 2853, District and State Commander of VFW, member of the Jaycees,  American Legion Post 67, Stearns County HRA, Lions Club, Sauk Centre School Board, Stearns County Nursing Board, Food Service Committee for the Home School and 50 years on the Honor Guard.

Ralph enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, golfing, fishing, playing cards, dice, bingo, watching the Minnesota Twins, Timberwolves and the Sauk Centre Mainstreeter teams.

Special thanks to the staff of the Sauk Centre CentraCare Nursing Care Center and the CentraCare Hospice team for the outstanding care they gave to Ralph.  It is greatly appreciated.

Survivors include his four children, Sandi Radzak of Sartell, Roger (Mary) Braun of Willmar, Jean Carruthers of Lewisville, TX and Cindy (John) Fischer of Rice. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.  Ralph is survived by his brothers, Linus (Carol) of Virginia Beach VA, Richard (Marlene) and Duane (Lois) of Alexandria, Ron of New Hope, and sister, Joan (Bill) Moening of Blaine, and brother-in-law, Bernie Wiebolt of Melrose.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann on October 4, 2013; son-in-law, David Carruthers; parents, Edward and Katherine Braun; sisters, Helen, Marie, Valeria, Rita and Evelyn, and brother, Virgil.

Serving as casket bearers and cross bearer will be his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred to St. Cloud Dioceses TV Mass or Sauk Centre Hospice.
