Philomae "Phil" Dziengel, age 85 of Sauk Centre died on Sunday, January 18, 2004 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 22 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. on Thursday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Christian Mothers will pray at 6:15 p.m. immediately followed by parish prayers and the United Auxiliaries of Sauk Centre will pray at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Philomae Dziengel was born in Florian, Minnesota to Michael J. and Bridget (Zakrzewski) Kuznia. She married Chester H. Dziengel on March 9, 1943 at Assumption Church in Florian. They farmed in Argyle and moved to Sauk Centre in the mid-forties. They continued farming until Chester's death on Jan. 28, 1966. Philomae was employed by the Sauk Centre High School as a cook until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Sauk Centre Seniors, and the American Legion Post 67Auxiliary. Philomae enjoyed needlework, playing cards with family and friends, and shopping.
Survivors include her children, Addie Weber of Cold Spring, Virginia Rexine (Bill) of Apple Valley and Marileen Diederichs (Randy) of Champlin; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Melany Kuznia of St. Louis Park, Emil Kuznia (Florence) of Stephen, Rosalie Stusynski of Strandquist, Veronica Johnanson (Donny) of Edinburgh, North Dakota, Michael Kuznia (Lillian) of Strandquist; and sister-in-law, Irene Kuznia of Warren.
Philomae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester H. Dziengel on January 28, 1966; son, Michael on October 13, 1969; brothers, Albert, Steve and Ira Kuznia; brother-in-law, Barney Stuzynski and one grandson, Kevin Diederichs.
Casket bearers will be Mark and Rick Weber, Todd and Jason Rexine, Christopher Kuznia and Allen Doerer. Cross bearer and alter server will be Brandon Diederichs. Scripture bearer and special reader will be Kim Diederichs. Gift bearers will be Phil's daughters, Addie, Virginia, and Marileen. Lectors will be Bill Rexine and Randy Diederichs.
