Pearl L. Beste, age 89 of Sartell formerly of Sauk Centre, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Country Manor in Sartell, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 11 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish Prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m. followed by the Christian Mothers at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Pearl Lillian Hanson was born March 11, 1920 in Kandota Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Ole and Dena (Rees) Hanson. On May 4, 1943 she was united in marriage to Harland Beste at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Pearl worked at Main Street Café, Bud's Supper Club, White Spot and Pettit's Group Home. Pearl's loves were her family, her faith, and chocolate. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies. Pearl never had idle hands; she loved crocheting, reading, dancing, fishing, playing cards and dice, and crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed good jokes with a little juice and a good book with a little smut.Pearl was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids, Gold Star Christian Mothers, Eagle's Auxiliary, and St. Theresa's Mission Group.
Pearl is survived by her daughter, Lori (Joe) Steinemann of St. Stephen; grandchildren, Tina (Mike) Gronseth and Tony (Jen) Steinemann; and great-grandchildren, Addyson Pearl and Anya Gronseth and Jayden, Tyler, and Andrew Steinemann.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Harland Beste on September 23, 1981; son, John Beste in January 1955; parents; brother, Donald Hanson; and sisters, Dorothy Nelson and Margaret Norton.
Serving as casket bearers will be Joann Dirkes, Polly Tabatt, Carol Dahl, Patty Mehrers, Marlene Otte, and Betty Blenkush. Cross bearer will be Jayden Steimemann and scripture bearer will be Bonnie Tiemann. Honorary casket bearers will be the Christian Mothers. Readers will be Marlene Otte and Stephen and Karen Hovanes. Gift bearers will be Tony and Jen Steinemann and Tina and Mike Gronseth. Musicians will be Steve and Nettie Emblom and June Rutten.
