Paul H. Pischke, age 90 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Eberhard Schefers officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Paul Henry Pischke was born January 30, 1929 in West Union Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Joseph and Ida (Schmidt) Pischke. After school, he began painting with Andy Sorenson as a part time job and helped many neighbors with any work that they needed done. Paul married the love of his life, Lois Bailey on October 27, 1951 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. In 1955, the couple took over and lived on the family farm for 50 years, over 20 of those years they enjoyed time at their summer cabin on Lake Osakis. Paul worked at Feeder Pig Co-Op, became an auctioneer, and owned and operated 430 acres. After retirement, Paul and Lois moved to Sauk Centre, where they owned an antique store for many years. The couple wintered as snowbirds in Mesa, Arizona for over 20 years up until recent years.

Paul was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and sang in church choirs for more than 60 years. He was also a life member of Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853 and Co-Op Board member for 25 years. Paul was an avid lifetime fisherman; his last fishing outing was 2 weeks ago. Paul holds many Minnesota fishing records. His other interests include golfing, hunting, and garage and estate sales to buy antiques for their antique business. He also was a competitive card player with family, wrote poetry, was a trickster and prankster, and had a gift of gab.

Survivors include his children, Janet Valdez of Scottsdale, Arizona, Linda (Bill) Frederick of Osakis, Scott (Soonmi) Pischke of Phoenix, Arizona, and Robert (Kimberly) Pischke of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Nachelle, Dillon (Jolene), Jasmine (Mike), Kirsten, Christina, Tyler, Charles, Hunter, and Connor; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Ellie, Bobbi, John, Henry, Harrison, Verna, and Maverick; sister, Rita Hovorka of Anoka; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Lois on December 2, 2018; son, Paul Pishke, Jr.; son-in-law, Ken Valdez; grandson, Ken Valdez Jr; sisters, Jane Reichle and Gloria Harvey; and brothers-in-law, Nick Hovorka, John Reichle, and Terry Harvey.
