Patrick J. Toenies, age 46 passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota after succumbing to complications following a five year battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 19 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Patrick James Toenies was born October 21, 1964 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Jerome and Rita (Marthaler) Toenies. In 1983, Pat graduated from Sauk Centre High School. He later continued his education by receiving a degree in economics from St. Cloud State University. Pat served in the Army National Guard from 1982 through 1983 and from 1986 through the present. Pat served in the Active Army from 1983 through 1986 at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and Berlin, Germany. Pat was deployed to Iraq in December 2004 through May of 2005. In September 2001, Pat began working fulltime for the Army National Guard and held a wide variety of positions. Master Sergeant Pat Toenies culminated his career as Operations Sergeant for the Brigade Special Troops Battalion. He enjoyed watching Fox News and History International, studying military history, and managing his stock portfolio.
Pat is survived by his siblings, Cary (Sandy) Toenies of Fairbanks, Alaska, Kevin (Danette) Toenies of Big Lake, Keith (Karen) Toenies of Sauk Centre, Dale Toenies of Fairbanks, Alaska, Karen (Doug) Fowler of Bloomington, Illinois, and Carla Dulas of Glenwood; and nieces and nephews, Adam Toenies, Jaime (Adam) Semling, Jordan Toenies, Patrick A. Toenies, Andrew Toenies, Aaron Toenies, Sara Toenies, Michaella Fowler, Kelli Fowler, and Christopher Dulas.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Toenies on October 13, 2009 and Rita Toenies on July 17, 2010.
Serving as casket bearers will be the National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team. Honorary casket bearers will be CSM John and Laura Lepowsky, SFC Brent and Lisa Henry, Mark Banal, Guy Patyk, Bill Berg and Anita Kaiser. Cross bearer will be Joy Christiansen and scripture bearer will be Tom Zenzen.
