Patrick J. "Pat" Duchene, age 44 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully, surrounded by his family Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at his home in Raymond Township, Stearns County, Minnesota after a year-long battle with ALS.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday ONLY at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m.
Patrick John Duchene was born December 6, 1970 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Gregory and Diane (Claude) Duchene. He was a 1989 graduate of Sauk Centre High School and a 1991 graduate of Willmar Community College, where he met Sara Zuhlsdorf. They married on June 20, 1991 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin, Minnesota. Following graduation, he began farming, a career he continued throughout his life. In 2002, he and his father started D & D Pumping Service, Inc., which has grown into the family business and continues today. He worked hard and will be remembered for his work ethic, honesty, kindness, and fairness.
Pat enjoyed farming and time spent hunting, fishing, and trapping. He looked forward to winter elk hunting trips to the mountains of Wyoming, as well as annual summer fishing trips to Canada with Sara and Meghan. He also enjoyed family gatherings and helping anyone in need.
Pat was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, the Padua Conservation Club, and the National Fur Trappers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Duchene of Sauk Centre; daughter, Meghan (Nick) Hinnenkamp of Sauk Centre; parents, Gregory and Diane Duchene of Sauk Centre; brothers, Michael Duchene of Villard and Leon (Neila) Duchene of Spicer; and sister, Becky (Brian) Simdars of Newport.
Serving as casket bearers will be Rick Magnuson, Steve Herdering, Greg Weiner, Sam Duchene, Daryl Schmiesser, and Adam Duchene. Gift bearers will be Lukas, Isaac, and Kenna Otte and lector will be Connie Otto.
