Patricia "Patty" McCoy

Patricia J. “Patty” McCoy, age 53 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at the Maple Grove Hospital in Maple Grove, Minnesota.

A Requiem Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 12th at 11a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park with Father Brady Keller as the celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow in the basement gathering area at St. Joseph’s. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sauk Centre at 3:30 p.m. with Father Greg Paffel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre, MN.

Patricia Jean McCoy was born November 9, 1970 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Brian and Shirley (Taufen) McCoy.

She graduated high school from St Jude’s Academy near Long Prairie in 1988, received an Associate of Arts degree from Christendom College in Front Royal, VA in 1994, and took a variety of classes at Alexandria Technical College and St Cloud State in Minnesota.

Patty enjoyed a number of jobs both before and after graduation.  She looked back fondly on, and often spoke of her days working at Pizza Hut, Subway, Vocational Biographies, Main Street Press, and Advanced Lighting in Sauk Centre, Banker Systems in St. Cloud MN, and Seton Home Study School in Front Royal, VA.

She loved to socialize with the community around Sauk Centre, live music, ice skating, playing piano, calligraphy, writing and receiving letters, talking of old friends, and reading books. 

Patty had her share of personal struggles over the years, but was very committed to her Faith, family and friends. Her Catholic Faith was very important to her, she attended Mass and kept a Holy Hour at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre for many years. She had a special devotion to Our Lady of Fatima and St Peter Julian Eymard.

Survivors include her parents, Brian and Shirley McCoy of Sauk Centre; brothers and sisters, Dan (Rhonda) McCoy of St. Martin, Greg McCoy of Waite Park, Michelle (Jim) Hoeper of Villard, Tom McCoy of Sauk Centre, Mark McCoy of Sauk Centre, Maria (Chris) Dvorak of Watkins, Martin McCoy of Sauk Centre, and Matt (Crystal) McCoy of Sauk Centre; and several God-children, among her 23 nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and nephews.

Patty was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Eileen (Wayne) Wittkop; grandparents, Ronald and Marie McCoy and Wilfred and Hildegarde Taufen; and several uncles and aunts.
