Norman J. Radermacher, age 86, of Sauk Centre died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at the St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2004 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz and Deacon Thomas McFadden concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Norman John Radermacher was born March 13, 1918 in West Union Township, Todd County, Minnesota to John H. and Frances (Jaques) Radermacher. Norman served from 1941 in the U.S. Army during WWII as a baker and cook in Panama until he was discharged from El Paso, Texas in 1945. He was married to Marcella (Sally) Kemper on November 15, 1944 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. He was a creamery operator in New Munich and Grove Lake, Minnesota for six years. Then his family moved to Rapid City, South Dakota where he worked on construction jobs and at the Red Owl Store, where he learned to be a meat cutter. He was transferred to Montevideo for four years. They moved to Sauk Centre where Norm and Leroy Lenarz had the Red Owl Store. In 1961 Norm bought the Red Owl Store in Tracy, Minnesota and owned it for 10 years. They moved back to Sauk Centre and he worked for Super Valu and Nash Finch until retirement. Norm was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Heartland Polka Swingers and the Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853. His pastimes included fishing, gardening and old-time dancing.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Radermacher of Sauk Centre; children, Ronald Radermacher (Dorothy) of Lake City, James Radermacher (Lynne) of Redwood Falls, Marilyn Girard (Andy) of Grand Rapids, Norma Jean Imme (Bryan) of Willmar; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta Gieske (Bernard) of Sauk Centre, and Virginia Balago of New York.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Sylvester, Raymond and John Radermacher.
Casket bearers will be his nephews, Allen and Daniel Gieske, Greg, Kenneth, Lionel, and Dale Radermacher. Cross bearer will be Robert Imme and scripture bearer will be Kristen Girard. Honorary bearers will be Mike Kane, Joe Wolbeck, Bert Waldorf, Jim Super, Clarence Rooney, Kevin Gwost, Richard Tabbat, Mark Sprengeler, Roman Gilister and Casimer Otte.
