Norman M. "Norm" Bohlig, age 85 of Melrose, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Ken Thielman officiating. Interment will be held in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. Military Honors provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose.
Norman H. "Norm" Bohlig was born August 3, 1923 in New Munich, Minnesota to Charles and Magdalena (Athmann) Bohlig. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the Army Air Corps as a bombardier stationed at Riverside, California. On October 3, 1949 he was united in marriage to Renee (Knafla) Bohlig in Melrose. Norm was the owner and operator of Bohlig's Cleaners in Melrose and Sauk Centre since its opening in 1948. He was a member of the American Legion Post 101. He loved sports and was active in the Melrose Baseball Team years ago.
Survivors include his brothers, Ves (Roseann) Bohlig of St. Cloud, and Chuck (Jackie) Bohlig of Little Falls; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ross of Eugene, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Renee on August 22, 2007; and brothers, Ervin, Art, Don, and Al Bohlig.
Serving as casket bearers will be Richard Bohlig, John Bohlig, Bob Niehaus, Jeff Kemper, Terry Kotsmith, and Diane Schlict. Cross bearer will be Linda Kemper and scripture bearer will be Sharon Kotsmith.
