Norbert Holm

Norbert O. "Norby" Holm, age 48 of Sauk Centre, died unexpectedly from complications of diabetes Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at his home in Birchdale Township, Todd County, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 27 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will follow in Svea Lund Cemetery in Kandota Township, Todd County, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre.

Norbert Owen Holm was born May 15, 1962 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Gordon and Betty (Lyon) Holm. He attended the Diamond Point country school for the first and second grade and graduated from Sauk Centre Senior High School in 1980. On August 30, 1986 he married Roxanne Bronson at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.Norby was employed at Beuning Agriculture for many years and then was a field representative for AMPI. He returned to the family home farm in 1989.

Norby was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and AMPI association. He was president of the Sauk Centre Hockey Association and had served on the Birchdale Township board for 22 years. He was licensed to blow up beaver dams.Norby will be missed for his happy face and willingness to help everyone. He enjoyed deer hunting, ice fishing and spearing, watching his son play hockey, snowmobiling, motorcycling, good story telling, cool whip, and ice cream. He especially enjoyed family get togethers, being on the farm, visiting the neighbors, and his labs.

Survivors include his wife, Roxanne "Roxy" Holm of Sauk Centre; two children, Amber Holm of Raymond and Derek Holm of Sauk Centre; mother, Betty Holm of Sauk Centre; brother and sisters, Rev. Jill Holm, Bonnie Engle, and Lynn Holm, all of Sauk Centre, Sharon "Sherry" Holm of Pillager, and LaBeth Holm of Long Prairie; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved red lab, Bauer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Holm on February 14, 2004; grandparents, aunts, and uncles; and his beloved labs.

Serving as casket bearers will be Eric Engle, Brent Engle, Camren Blank, Jesse Holm, Jim Juelke, Steve Edling, Dave Hoffman, and Bill Zehrer. Serving as cross bearer will be Bob Johnson and scripture bearer will be Kathy Joarnt. Honorary bearers will be member of the Sauk Centre Hockey Association, Rudy Pastian, Jerry Frericks, Brian Gniffke, Pete Marthaler, Roger Hoffman, and Jim Bronson.
