Norbert H. Beuning, age 81, of Burtrum, died peacefully on March 3, 2007 at Long Prairie Memorial Hospital in Long Prairie, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Mark Willenbring officiating. Interment will follow in Moses Dane Cemetery, Burtrum, Minnesota.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph's Chapel in Grey Eagle. Parish prayers will be at 8 p.m. Monday at the church chapel in Grey Eagle.

Norb was born April 5, 1925 in Freeport, Minnesota to Herman and Rose (Thell) Beuning. He married Caroline Dirschel on March 28, 1981 in Red Wing, Minnesota. He was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years working on the Libby Dam in Montana, as well as, other road and bridge construction projects. He was a proud member of International Union of Operating Engineers - Local 49.He loved his family and little children. He enjoyed fishing, especially ice fishing and traveling in his motor home.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Beuning of Burtrum; daughter, Marilynn Blommel (Leroy) of Grey Eagle; brother, Anthony "Tony" Beuning of Avon; sisters, Lorraine Hammond (Elmer) of Freeport, Theresa Roerick of Albany, Bernadine Ettle (Leo) of Freeport, Irene Lund of St. Cloud and Mary Jane Blommel (Arnie) of Freeport; step-children, Karen Davidson (Gary) of Herbster, Wisconsin, Julie Wolters (Tom) of Red Wing, Laurie Hansen of Rice, Della Anderson (Rick) of Duelm, and Lenny Dirschel of Corona, California; two grandchildren, Michelle "Shelli" and Mike Blommel; 16 step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mathilda "Tillie" (Waldorf) Beuning on November 13, 1964; stepson, Jerome L. Dirschel, Jr.; step-son-in-law, Donnie Hansen; sister, Dorothy Wald; and brother, Walter Beuning.

Casket bearers will be Bob Rudnitski, Bob Fell, Mark Beuning, Tom Ettle, Herb Beuning, and Leroy Beuning. Cross bearer will be Mike Blommel. Scripture bearer will be Michelle Blommel.
