Nora Copenhefer, age 100 of Grey Eagle, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at Lakewood Care Center in Baudette, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 10 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Rev. Arlie Sowada will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church in Grey Eagle.
Nora Copenhefer was born September 26, 1905 to Louis and Mary (Anderson) Smith on her family's farm near Burtrum, Minnesota. She graduated from Burtrum High School in 1923. In 1925 she married Robert Copenhefer and the couple later operated Bob's Place, a small hamburger joint on Bass Lake near Grey Eagle. They moved to Minneapolis in the late 1950's and she helped manage Lind's Pharmacy on 5th Avenue and Lake Street. After retiring in 1969, they returned to Grey Eagle. Following Bob's death in 1975, she resided at Village View Apartments in Grey Eagle until 1998. She then lived with her granddaughter, Jeanne, and since 2001 had resided at the Lakewood Care Center in Baudette. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.Nora was a kind, gentle person who enjoyed nature, reading and music, the company of friends, her dear sisters and other family members.
Survivors include two grandchildren, John Peschel of Burtrum and Nora Jean (John) Krousey of Williams; and a sister, JoAnne Anderson of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 1975; daughter, Bonnie Lou Peschel in 1953; sisters, Luda Nielsen, Selma Schleck, Mabel Smith, Alice Topp and Laura Bardon; and brother, John Smith.
Serving as casket bearers will be John Peschel, John Krousey, Don Peschel and Gary Barrett with Jean Krousey as cross bearer.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Grey Eagle.
