Nona A. Walker, age 93 of Grey Eagle, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 23 at Grey Eagle United Methodist Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Hollis Bishop officiating. Inurnment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Grey Eagle.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Nona Alvina Dicks was born October 24, 1924 in Grey Eagle, Minnesota, to Vernon and Mary (Eldred) Dicks. Nona attended Grey Eagle Public Schools. She was united in marriage to Clarence Clinton Walker on December 31, 1941. The couple lived on a farm south and east of Bass Lake where they raised their four children. Nona worked as a cook at Grey Eagle Public School for about 25 years and sold Avon cosmetics where she earned the president's club. She was a member of Grey Eagle United Methodist Church in Grey Eagle and the Grey Eagle Senior Citizens. Nona enjoyed cooking and baking, traveling, taking rides in the country, and enjoyed being a part of the Sunshine Girls for many years.
Survivors include her children, Virginia (Jim) Johnson of Grey Eagle, Ronald (Marilyn) Walker of Zimmerman, Marylee (Mark) Greeley of Coon Rapids, and Lois (Jimmy) McLean of Milton, Florida;11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Jean Chapp of Little Falls.
Nona was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Walker on June 12, 1999; parents; brothers, Billy Dicks, Clark Dicks, Richard Dicks, and Roger Dicks; and sisters, Ramona Walker and Verna McManus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Grey Eagle United Methodist Church.
