Nelbert R. Lawin, age 62 of Clarissa, formerly of Long Lake, near Burtrum died Friday, August 5, 2005 at Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 8 at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose with Rev. Steve Hayden officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Melrose.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home in Melrose.
Nelbert Lawin was born May 28, 1943 in Melrose, Minnesota to Bernard "Ben" and Hilda (Tabatt) Lawin. Nelbert grew up in Melrose and later lived on Long Lake in Burnhamville Township, Todd County. He has resided in Clarissa since December 6, 2004. Nelbert enjoyed watching baseball games, collecting toys and playing cards. He was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose.
Nelbert is survived by his cousins, Walter Tabatt and his wife, Kathryn of Long Prairie, Alvera Luberts of Long Prairie and Elnora Kircher of Long Prairie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Harold and Howard Lawin.
Casket bearers will be Arnold Gennrich, Edwin Lunser, Kenneth Pagel, John, Eugene and Jerome Tabatt.
Memorial preferred to American Cancer Society.
