Nathan L. Roering, age 25 of Sauk Centre died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and friends following a hard-fought battle with cancer on Friday, August 9, 2019.
A visitation with a Prayer Service will be held 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. A Prayer Service will begin at 7 p.m. led by Father Greg Paffel.
Nathan Lee Roering was born December 31, 1993 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, the son of Kari (Straub) VanHavermaet and Scott Roering. At his baptism, Nathan’s aunt and uncle, Judy Straub and Shannon Roering were named his Godparents. Nathan grew up in Sauk Centre. He had a great passion for hunting and fishing. He was able to sit in his deer stand immediately following chemotherapy during the 2018 hunting season. Nate loved to work on cars. He enjoyed working on his Demolition Derby car and getting ready to drive. . A highlight for him was taking 2nd Place in the Viking Speedway Demo Derby – V6 Class in 2012. Nathan worked as a mechanic and especially loved working on cars beside his dad in Roering Repair Shop. He had also worked as a mechanic at Jack’s Auto and Trucker’s Inn in Sauk Centre.
Nathan loved to hang out with his friends – always referring to them as “one family”! Together they would enjoy each other’s company, play video games and watch movies. His friends were always there for him just as he had been there for them.
Nathan treasured time with his family and was honored to be the Godfather to his niece and nephew, Kaylie and Axl Messer.
Nathan will be deeply missed by his parents Kari and Kevin VanHavermaet of Foley and Scott Roering and Jenny Harlow of Osakis; siblings, Kolin (Kalley) Messer of Little Sauk, Maverick and Addison Roering of Osakis; grandparents, Robert Straub, Sr. of Sauk Centre and LeRoy and Audrey Roering of Sauk Centre; uncles and aunt, Robert (Claudette) Straub of Sauk Centre, Bill (Judy) Straub of Lindstrom, Shelley Iverson of Sauk Centre, and Shannon (Tami) Roering of Alexandria; and many other extended family and friends.
Nathan was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marline Straub.
