Nancy L. Douvier age 42 of Melrose, died Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Albany Area Hospital in Albany.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 2, at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Saint Rosa with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the church in St. Rosa.
Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Nancy Douvier was born November 29, 1965 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Roman and Martha (Krantz) Douvier. Nancy was a graduate of Melrose High School in 1984. She completed courses at Hawkeye Hill Racing School in Commiskey, Indiana for horse exercises. She worked as groom for various horse racing tracks around the nation. Since 2004, she had resided in Melrose. Even though she worked at several other places locally, her heart was always with the race horses. Nancy was also involved with the local cancer drives. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. She loved making sun dresses for the mission children. Nancy's cheerfulness and smile touched many. She leaves behind many family, friends, and her kitty, Sam, that will miss her dearly.
Survivors include her brothers and sister, Robert (Mary) Douvier of Sauk Centre, David (Judy) Douvier of St. Joseph, Randy (Amy) Douvier of Newton, Kansas, Roger (Marlene) Douvier of Avon, Terry (Tina) Douvier of Sauk Rapids, Tom (JoAnn) Douvier of St. Rosa, Tim Douvier of Bowlus, and Cindy (Richard) Ostendorf of Avon; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and Sam, her kitty cat.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roman and Martha Douvier.
Serving as urn bearer will be Cindy Ostendorf. Cross bearer will be Christy Michels and scripture bearer will be Tammie Douvier.
