Mona M. Kohorst, age 94 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Fairway Pines Assisted Living in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 5 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Mona Mary Adrian was born April 24, 1929, in Krain Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Joseph and Rose (Dreiss) Adrian. On January 2, 1951, she married Ervin Kohorst at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. The couple and their three boys farmed near Holdingford until 1969, when they moved to Sauk Centre. There, Mona taught fifth grade at Sauk Centre Elementary School and Erv and their sons ran their beer distributorship and later Kohorst Trucking. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling, wintering in Arizona, and attending their grandchildren’s events.
Mona was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, where she served as lector and Eucharistic Minister. She decorated the church altar, taught CCD, was a member of the Christian Mothers and hosted an annual tea party in support of the Poor Clares for many years.
Mona enjoyed cooking and baking, decorating her house and hosting many social occasions for family and friends. Mona was a golfer and flower gardener, and was known for her great kindness and charity towards others.
Survivors include her sons, Don (Loni) Kohorst and Bob (JoAnn) Kohorst, of Sauk Centre; daughter-in-law, Linda Kohorst of Champlin; seven grandchildren, Karla (Paul) Reyerson, Matt, Nathan (Emily), Ryan (Katie), Ted (Jen), Dylan, and Alyssa Kohorst; brothers and sister, John (Shirley) Adrian of Albany, Arlene Welle of Sauk Centre, and Joseph (Darlene) Adrian of St. Anthony.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erv on July 11, 2007; son, Jim on December 26, 1990; and brother-in-law, Dan Welle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Poor Clares, 421 S. 4th St., Sauk Rapids, MN 56379.
