Mildred "Millie" Zirbes, age 81 of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Millie Zirbes was born June 9, 1923 in Meire Grove, Minnesota to Theodore and Rose (Inderrieden) Nathe. On September 26, 1944 she married Hubert Zirbes in Melrose, Minnesota. The couple farmed east of Sauk Centre and for the past seven years had resided in Sauk Centre. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. Millie enjoyed gardening and playing the accordion.
Survivors include her husband, Hubert Zirbes of Sauk Centre; three children, Michael (Vonnie) Zirbes of Sauk Centre, Judy (Robert) Berscheid of Grey Eagle and Mark Zirbes of St. Cloud; seven grandchildren, Paula (Brad) Chapulis of Worthington, Chad (Bobbi) Zirbes and Eric Zirbes, both of Melrose, Brian (Justine) Zirbes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Nicholas, Benjamin and Robert Berscheid, Jr., all of Grey Eagle; five great grandchildren, Vincent, Jordan, Rebecca and Carter Zirbes and Gabrielle Chapulis; sisters and brothers, Sally Zirbes, Lambert (Verena) Nathe and Ralph (Joann) Nathe, all of Sauk Centre, Margaret Johnson of Buffalo, Wyoming, Cathy (Jerry) Weyland of Brooklyn Park, Arlene (Pete) Schroeder of Lino Lakes and Willie (Eileen) Nathe of Zimmerman; brother-in-law, John Ruglowski of Brainerd; and sister-in-law, Shirley Nathe of Melrose.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Irene Ruglowski; brother, Herman Nathe; and brothers-in-law, Alcuin Zirbes and Dave Johnson.
Serving as casket bearers will be Chad, Eric and Brian Zirbes, Nicholas, Benjamin and Robert Berscheid, Jr. Cross bearer will be Paula Chapulis, scripture bearer will be Vincent Zirbes and flower bearer will be Jordan Zirbes.
