Mildred Irene McIntyre was born February 20, 1926 in Olivia, Minnesota to Marshall and Olive (Albright) McIntyre. She was the eighth of ten children. The family moved around a lot while she was growing up. From Olivia, Minnesota they moved to Sauk Centre, Belgrade, Elrosa, and finally back to the Sauk Centre area, where she lived the rest of her life. She spent much of her time growing up doing farm work. She learned to drive a team of horses as well as how to care for animals and the land at a young age. Mildred met Walter Wolf at a dance. They got married on January 24, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church parsonage in Sauk Centre. They made their life together on a farm west of Sauk Centre. They were blessed with three children, Jane, Sharon, and Gary. They rarely spent a night apart until Walter passed away in April 2006.
Mildred loved her family, the farm, her flower beds and garden, animals (of any kind), occasional trips to a casino, and playing cards. She was a feisty and sassy lady who spoke her mind. She will be remembered as a hard-working farm wife and mother, grandma, and "little" great-grandma. She loved to play cards at a family functions. She will also be remembered as a wonderful cook. She always had goodies ready when someone came to visit. Her Christmas and New Year's Day meals are still talked about today.
