Mildred Rieland

Mildred E. "Millie" Rieland, age 83 of Sauk Centre, died after a long 28 year battle with cancer on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the CentraCare Health Systems Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church in Sauk Centre.

Mildred Emma Minette was born May 28, 1929 in Sauk Centre Township, Stearns County to George and Mary (Zenzius) Minette. She attended the country school until eighth grade. Millie married Roman Rieland on June 22, 1950 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. She worked with her husband on their farm west of Sauk Centre and raised 6 children, retiring from the farm in 1997. Millie was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and East Ashley Ladies Club. Millie enjoyed embroidering, quilting, casino visits, and watching the Twins and Timberwolves.

Millie is survived by her children, Dennis (Mary) Rieland of St. Augusta, Donna (Larry) Hartigan of Sauk Centre, Dale (Maria) Rieland of Sauk Centre, Dora (Mike) Quistorff of Sauk Centre, Danette (Kevin) Toenies of Big Lake, and Dean (Carol) Rieland of Sauk Centre; grandchildren, Kelly and Jessica Rieland, Jaime (Adam) Semling, Jordan, Patrick and Andrew Toenies, Shawn (Claire) Rieland, Andrea (Jon) Hammond, Sheena (Kyle) Mees, Darrin Quistorff, Dillon and Mariah Rieland, Bradley (Samantha), Kyle and Michael Hartigan; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Lucia Rieland, Kaden and Natalie Mees, Paxton Semling, and Henry Hammond; sisters, Leona Bromenshenkel, Mary Mae (Virden) Olson, Bernice Proell, Delphine (Bernard) Nietfeld, and Shirley (James) Marthaler.

Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Roman Rieland on June 14, 2008; brother, Jerome "Bud" Minette; and parents.

Serving as casket bearers will be Shawn Rieland, Kyle Hartigan, Brad Hartigan, Michael Hartigan, Patrick Toenies, Andrew Toenies, Darrin Quistorff, and Dillon Rieland. Serving as cross bearer will be Jaime Semling and scripture bearer will be Sheena Mees. Gift bearers will be Jordan Toenies, Jessica Rieland, and Mariah Rieland. Readers will be Andrea Hammond, Sheena Mees, and Jaime Semling.
