Michelle J. Pittman, age 22 of Alexandria, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, March 1, 2019 after a short battle with brain cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Charles Samson officiating and Rev. Greg Paffel concelebrating. Interment will be at St. Alexius Cemetery in West Union.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with parish prayers at 4:30 p.m. Holy hour will begin at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church with a rosary at 10 a.m. and Benediction at 10:30 a.m.
Michelle was born March 4, 1996 in Alexandria, Minnesota to Philip and Mary (Newcomb) Pittman. She was homeschooled through high school and attended college at the University of Mary in Bismark, North Dakota. While pursuing a degree in nursing, she studied abroad in Rome for one semester. Michelle graduated in 2018 with a University Studies Degree and a minor in Catholic Studies. In college, she worked as a nursing assistant at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismark. Michelle enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She especially looked forward to weddings, ordinations, graduations, and reunions with her “Rome Family.”
She was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church West Union and attended the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismark, while attending school.
Survivors include her parents, Philip and Mary Pittman of Alexandria; brother and sister, Michael and Therese Pittman both of Alexandria; maternal grandmother, Barbara Newcomb; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Russell Newcomb, Clarence and Mildred Pittman, and William and Donna McClintock.
