Michael J. "Mike" Fuchs, age 93 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre for. Rev. James Statz will officiate with interment following in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Michael Fuchs was born January 19, 1916 in Spring Hill, Minnesota to Michael and Gertrude (Wymann) Fuchs. At a young age, he began helping in his father's trucking business hauling cattle to the South St. Paul Stockyards. On September 13, 1938 he married Anna Raeker at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. The couple farmed near Elrosa and he also did custom baling around the area. They retired in 1978 and moved to Sauk Centre. For the past year he had resided at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.Mike was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church. He had enjoyed traveling and playing cards, but his greatest enjoyment came from visiting with his grandchildren.

Survivors include five children, Werner (Arlene) Fuchs and Virgil (Jane) Fuchs, all of Belgrade, Anna Mae (Joseph) Prom of St. Joseph, Joan (Walter Musty) Bondhus of Monticello, Karen (Eugene) Wiechmann of Freeport; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Mary Middendorf of St. Cloud.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Fuchs on November 22, 1990; two grandsons, Gregory Prom and Thomas Fuchs; brothers, Matt and John Fuchs; sister, Ann Wurst.

Serving as casket bearers will be Jeff, Kevin, and Ron Fuchs, Perry Bondhus, Tim Field, and John Prom. Cross bearer will be Amy Wiechmann, scripture bearer will be Rachael Fuchs, lectors will be Sharon Schley and Shannah Field, and gift bearers will be Carter Fuchs, Alex Heinen, and Noah Thomsen. Eulogy will be given by Steve Fuchs.
