Melvin J. Vogt, age 74 of Meire Grove, died peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Belgrade Nursing Home in Belgrade, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Mitchell Bechtold officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church in Meire Grove.
Melvin Joseph Vogt was born April 16, 1940 in Richmond, Minnesota to John and Helen (Ressemann) Vogt. He was united in marriage to Judy Schleper on October 21, 1967 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. Melvin spent 6 years in the U.S. Army Reserve. He drove milk truck for the farmers around Meire Grove for many years. He then worked at Paynesville Fleet Supply until his retirement. His hobbies included fixing and tinkering with cars, drinking coffee, and making new friends.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove.
Survivors include his children, John (Lynn Meyer) Vogt of Minneapolis and Del (Noelle) Vogt of Albertville; grandchildren, Ian, Mason, Logan, and Trenton Vogt; wife, Judy Vogt of Melrose; brothers and sisters, Ralph (Rita) Vogt of Richmond, Eileen Blasius of Richmond, Alma (Ted) Buermann of Albany, LeRoy Vogt of Aitken, Donald "Toby" Vogt of Melrose, and Roger (Markell) Vogt of Aitken.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents.
Serving as casket bearers will be John Vogt, Del Vogt, Logan Vogt,Trenton Vogt, Roger Vogt, and Tony Luetmer. Cross bearer will be Ian Vogt and scripture bearer will be Mason Vogt.
