Melvin Loehr

Melvin J. Loehr, age 83 of Elrosa, died suddenly Monday, January 15, 2007 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 18 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa Rev. Jeff Ethen will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday. St. James Catholic Aid will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Melvin Loehr was born May 26, 1923 in Spring Hill, Minnesota to Mathias and Theresa (Gardner) Loehr. On September 20, 1949 he married Genevieve Doll in St. Martin. The couple farmed for 25 years in Lake George Township, Stearns County, near Elrosa. They retired in 1974 and moved to Elrosa. Melvin drove school bus from 1975 to 1988 for the Belgrade, Brooten and Elrosa school district.He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Saint James Society of Catholic Aid. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards and BINGO.

Survivors include two children, Leander (Donna) Loehr of Elrosa and Betty (Gene) Rademacher of Melrose; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Alphonse Loehr of Sauk Centre and Joseph (Jeanette) Loehr of Melrose.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Genevieve Loehr on January 22, 2001.

Serving as casket bearers will be Darrin Loehr, Cindy Hoffman, Amy DeCrans, Ross Rademacher, Nancy Rademacher and Anita Rademacher. Cross bearer will be Jill Funk.
