Matthew J. Hill, age 22 of Buffalo, North Dakota died unexpectedly of natural causes, Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January, 17 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vincent Lieser and Deacon Ernie Kociemba officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Ward Springs, Minnesota.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Matthew John Hill was born September 9, 1982 in Edina, MN to Reginald and Chrissie (Kociemba) Hill. He grew up in Burnsville, MN, Grapevine, TX and Melrose, MN. Matt attended high school in Melrose. Matt had recently moved to Buffalo.Matt enjoyed playing with his son. He loved playing Monopoly with his sisters. He was a passionate football fan and enjoyed strategizing the game with his brother. He also enjoyed talking about cars, and was intrigued about books and designs of cars, with his dad and cooking with his mom. Matt really enjoyed and took pride in working with wood and building things. One cherished memory of Matt was his favorite place to hide as a child was the toy closet. Most important to Matt was being with family.
Matt is survived by a son, Grant Matthew Theiler of Melrose; mother, Chrissie of Melrose and father, Reg of Buffalo; grandparents, Donna Kociemba of Melrose and Annabel Hill of Buffalo; a brother, Lance Corporal Michael (Megan) Hill of NC; two sisters, Megan and Alexandra Hill both of Melrose; aunts and uncles, Bruce (Deb) Kociemba, Gary (Jan) Kociemba, William Kociemba, Ernie (Denise) Kociemba, Carrie Godinez, John (Linda) Kociemba, Julie (Tom) Beste, Shirley Wills, Douglas Hill and John (Bev) Hill.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Alois Kociemba and Garland Hill.
Casket bearers will be Bruce, Gary, William, John, Luke and Jeffrey Kociemba, Doug Hill and Tom Beste. Cross bearer will be Michael Hill. Scripture bearer will be Erika Kociemba. Honorary bearers will be Debra Kociemba, Julie Beste and Carrie Godinez.
