Mary Ellen Vearrier, age 76 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully after a long battle with cancer Thursday, April 16, 2009 at her home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 20 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Art Hoppe will officiate with interment following in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Mary Ellen McCoy was born April 5, 1933 in Huron, South Dakota to Ronald and Marie (Sullivan) McCoy. On December 13, 1952 she married Marvin Vearrier in Woonsocket, South Dakota, where they resided. In December, 1973 they moved to Sauk Centre where she was employed by the Dairyland Peach for 35 years.

Mary Ellen was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and Christian Mothers for 36 years. She was also a member of the Latin Mass community in Flensburg. She enjoyed shopping, playing the piano and singing in the choir.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin Vearrier of Sauk Centre; five children, Jerald (Anita) Vearrier of Osakis, Patricia (Bruce) Mackedanz of Cologne, Timothy (Colleen) Vearrier of Superior, Montana, Lisa (David) Beilke of Sauk Centre, and James (fiancé, Jeanne Maher) Vearrier of West Union; 30 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas (Mary) McCoy of Longmont, Colorado, James (Marlene) McCoy, Dennis (Dorothy) McCoy, and Joseph (Audrey) McCoy, all of Long Prairie, Brian (Shirley) McCoy of Sauk Centre; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kirk McCoy; and grandson, Jacob Vearrier.Serving as casket bearers will be Jeremy, Jared, and Joseph Vearrier, Brian Beilke, Ben and Paul Mackedanz.
