Mary Ann E. Schrom, age 96 of Osakis, formerly Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Community Memorial Home in Osakis, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 5 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mary Ann Elizabeth Hieserich was born April 15, 1915 in Elrosa, Minnesota to George and Elizabeth (Laubach) Hieserich. On July 2, 1940 she was united in marriage to Edwin Schrom at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. She worked for 30 years as a dietician at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, embroidery work and most of all, time with her children and grandchildren.
Mary Ann was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, St. Theresa's Mission Group, and the Sauk Centre Seniors.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, Carol (Joseph) Rohe of Fridley, Sharon (LaVern) Maile of Cold Spring, and Roger (Colleen) Schrom of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Ron Rohe, Lori (Tim) McDonald, Keri (Cory) Klapp, Staci (Sony) Malhotra, Jim Maile, Tom Maile, Scott Maile, Troy Maile, Sarah (Brian) Winter, and Stephanie Schrom; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Schrom on September 5, 1984; parents, George and Elizabeth Hieserich; and sister, Alvina Och.
Serving as casket bearers will be her grandchildren, Ron Rohe, Keri Klapp, Staci Malhotra, Jim Maile, Tom Maile, Scott Maile, Troy Maile, and Stephanie Schrom. Serving as cross bearer will be her granddaughter Lori McDonald and scripture bearer will be her granddaughter, Sarah Winter.
