Mary Jane Cox, 75, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Sauk Centre, died at Grand Village Nursing Home in Grand Rapids, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28th at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Sauk Centre.
Mary Jane Cox was born on May 13, 1930 in Wadena to Francis and Marie (Stuntebeck) Schmitz. She grew up and attended school in Wadena. Mary Jane married Charles H. Cox on Sept. 24, 1952 in Wadena, MN. They moved to New Jersey later moving to Sauk Centre in 1957. She was employed by Fingerhut in Sauk Centre, Animal Fair in Grey Eagle and later at Vocational Biographies in Sauk Centre. Mary Jane was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.
Survivors include her children, Charles "Chip" Cox (Michelle) of Hastings, Pat Cox (Vanessa) of Laurel, MD, Leah Erickson (Robert) of Grand Rapids; brother, Charles Schmitz (Coral) of Park Rapids and sister, Sally Lorenz (William) of St. Joseph; and 7 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles H. Cox on May 9, 1981; and brother, Arthur "Dick" Schmitz.
Casket bearers will be Derek, Jacob, Gabriel Cox, Michael and Angela Erickson, Duane Wiener, and Charles Schmitz. Cross bearer will be Hunter Cox. Scripture bearer will be Meische Cox.
