Mary Bayer

Mary M. Bayer, age 65 of Elrosa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Paynesville Health Care Center in Paynesville, Minnesota.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday August 16, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa with Rev. Joe Korf officiating. Inurnment will follow at the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mary Michelle Bayer was born August 13, 1958, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Joseph and Violette (Imdieke) Bayer. Mary graduated from Belgrade High School in 1977, and took over management of the family grocery store, Bayer Grocery, in Elrosa. She managed this business until 1994.

In her spare time, Mary enjoyed puzzles and working on crafts, such as needlework, painting ceramics, and making stamped and hand colored greeting cards.  Mary was always good at remembering birthdays and anniversaries of her family including those of her many nieces and nephews. 

Survivors include her siblings, Joe (Elizabeth) Bayer of Annandale, Bill (Arlene) Bayer of Belgrade, Mike (Laurie) Bayer of Glenwood, Mark (Connie) Bayer of Elrosa, and Brian (Ronda) Bayer of Minneapolis; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Judy Bayer; and nephews, Beau and Abe Bayer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the hospice group of Centracare Health system.
