Marvin F. Butkowski, age 89 of St. Joseph formerly of Minnetonka, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2021 at his home in St. Joseph, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 22 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Rick Aubol officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church in Sauk Centre.
Marvin Frank Butkowski was born December 8, 1931 in St. Rosa, Minnesota to Ignatius and Anna (Korte) Butkowski. He attended St. Rosa School. Marvin was united in marriage to Dorothy Otte on May 6, 1954 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Marvin worked for Yellow Cab, Advance United Trucklines in Minneapolis, and later worked as a custodian at Wayzata Public Schools. Marvin loved spending time with his grandchildren, caring for his home, and helping others.
He was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Plymouth.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Butkowski of St. Joseph; children, Denise Butkowski of Waynesville, North Carolina, Michael (Terri) Butkowski of Lake George, New York, Scott Butkowski of Sauk Centre, and Todd (Jodee) Butkowski of Hanover; seven grandchildren, Tawnie, Sean, Bobbie Jo, Thomas, Andrew, Amelia, and Julia; great-granddaughter, Ivy Quinn; sisters and brothers, Lucille Stanek, LaVerne Fleischhacker, Annette (Sylvester) Hollenkamp, Melvin (Carol) Butkowski, and Raymond Butkowski; and sisters-in-law, Mary Anne Butkowski and Martha Butkowski.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Ignatius and Anna Butkowski; son, Jeffrey Butkowski in 1965; sisters and brothers, Olivia Beste, Jerome Butkowski, Bernice Herzog, Florian Butkowski, Roger Butkowski, and Dorothy Weller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice of Sartell, Minnesota.
