Mark B. Meyer, age 52 of Sauk Centre, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at CentraCare Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota after a 4-1/2 year battle with leukemia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 31 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mark Bernard Meyer was born September 21, 1960 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, to Julian and Theresa (Fuchs) Meyer. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a medical corpsman from 1978 to 1983 and was stationed in Texas, Duluth and Hawaii. Mark returned to Sauk Centre and farmed with his dad and brothers from 1983 until 1994. On June 28, 1986 he was united in marriage to Lois Goerdt at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Mark worked as a boiler operator at Jennie-O Foods in Melrose, Lakeside Foods in Brooten, and Melrose Dairy Proteins until January, 2009. The couple moved to Elrosa in 1994 and back to Sauk Centre in 2002.
Mark loved spending time with family, fishing, gardening, cooking, listening to music, photography, watching movies, and could fix just about anything.
Mark is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lois Meyer of Sauk Centre; daughters, Janelle Meyer of Fargo, North Dakota and Lindsay Meyer at home; brothers and sisters, Elaine (Michael) Benusa of St. Cloud, Kathie Meyer Sontag of Stillwater, Diane (Michael) Russell of Rochester, New York, Joe Meyer of St. Paul, Mary (Kevin) Fletcher of Crossville, Tennessee, John Meyer of Palm Bay, Florida, and Paul Meyer of Hackensack; sister-in law, Amy Meyer of Silver Creek; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Meyer.
Serving as casket bearers will be Paul, Joe and John Meyer, Jeffrey Benusa, Ben Frericks, Mike and Dave Goerdt and Ryan Schulte. Cross bearer will be Ella Meyer and scripture bearer will be Ayva Meyer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
