Marie Schoenberg

Marie C. Schoenberg, age 86 of Melrose, died peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 20 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Women of Spring Hill will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed parish prayers at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Marie Christine Olmscheid was born May 8, 1926 in St. Martin, Minnesota to John and Frances (Hemmesch) Olmscheid. She was united in marriage to Gilbert Schoenberg on September 3, 1946 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin. The couple farmed near the Spring Hill area. They retired in 1987 and moved to Melrose. She enjoyed playing cards, baking and bowling.

Marie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose and the Christian Women of Spring Hill.

Survivors include her children, Roger (Joyce) Schoenberg of Greenwald, Marilyn (David) Welle of Greenwald, Margie (Kevin) Mohr of Paynesville, James "Gib" (Sharon) Schoenberg of Spring Hill, Mark Schoenberg of Spring Hill, Irene (John) Hafner of San Diego, CA and Randy (Cindi) Schoenberg of Spring Hill; 22 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; sisters, Catherine (Joe) Primus of Melrose and Anna Backes of St. Cloud.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert Schoenberg on March 2, 1992; infant sons, Joseph and Michael Schoenberg; daughter-in-law, Lisa Schoenberg; two grandchildren; brothers, Nick Olmscheid and Gilbert Olmscheid; sisters, Elizabeth Schlangen, Theresa Schaefer and Alverna Enneking.

Serving as casket bearers will be Doug Welle, Brandon Wensmann, Michael Schoenberg, Brooke Lieser, Shawn Schoenberg and Eric Schoenberg. Cross bearer will be Austin Schoenberg and scripture bearer will be Kari Diederich. Gift bearers will be Kristina Steck, Kelly Roering and Corey Schoenberg. Readers will be Greta Schoenberg and Cindy Anderson. Petitions will be read by Joan Wiese, Brenda Holter, Amy Orbeck and Lynn Stommes.
