Marie B. Rehkamp, age 97 of Melrose died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at the Melrose Area Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 15 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Ken Thielman officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Mothers will pray at 5 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Marie Rehkamp was born August 23, 1908 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Joseph and Christine (Schwieters) Blommel. She was united in marriage to Norbert H. Rehkamp on November 15, 1932 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. The couple farmed in Melrose Township and moved to Melrose in 1982. Marie, who was a homemaker all her life, enjoyed quilting, making braided rugs, tatting, gardening and playing bridge. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers and Women's Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include her children, Jeanette "Jan" Thelen of Freeport and Greg Rehkamp and his wife, Nancy of North Oaks; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and sister, Anna Blommel of Minneapolis.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert on November 14, 1998; sons, Lawrence and Wayne Rehkamp; brother and sisters, Herman Blommel, Gertrude Deick, Emma Roeschen and Frances Blommel.
Serving as casket bearers will be Garrett, Brandon and Troy Rehkamp, Robert, John and Daniel Thelen. Cross bearer will be Jill Mangan and scripture bearer will be Wayne Rehkamp. Honorary bearers will be Marlene Klaphake, Erma Kettler, Amanda Klaphake, June Hinnenkamp, Mary Jane Middendorf, Lydia Schulzetenberg, Mary Ann Primus, Vivian Weber, and Deb Nathe.
