Marie Nienaber, age 93 of New Munich died on Sunday, December 7, 2003 at Das Goldene Wohnheim in New Munich.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 10 to 11 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Golden Years Senior Citizens, Christian Mothers, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Aid Society will pray at 6 pm followed by parish prayers at 8 pm Tuesday evening at the church.
Marie Nienaber was born on September 1, 1910 in Oak Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to John and Elizabeth (Kerfeld) Borgerding. She was united in marriage to Theodor H. Nienaber on October 5, 1932 in Freeport. The couple farmed near the Albany area for eight years before moving to the Freeport area where they farmed until their retirement in 1974. The past two years Marie resided at Das Goldene Wohnheim in New Munich. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo as well as quilting, quilting and more quilting. Marie was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport, Golden Years Senior Citizens, Christian Mothers, and Scared Heart Catholic Aid Society.
Survivors include her children, Roman Nienaber (Millie) of Sauk Centre, Richard Nienaber (Millie) of Freeport, Eileen Nienaber (Tony) of Annaheim, Canada, Harvey Nienaber (Ruth) of Sauk Centre, Tom Nienaber (Rosemary) of Burtrum, Mary Ann Nienaber (Alfred) of Annaheim, Canada, and Henry Nienaber (Lois) of Sartell; daughter-in-law, Barb Newstrom (Jim) of Minneapolis; 37 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren; brother, Brother William Borgerding, O.S.B. of St. Johns; sisters, Sister Frances Borgerding, O.S.B. of St. Scholastica and Helen Ehlert (Melvin) of Sauk Centre.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Borgerding; husband, Theodor Nienaber on May 5, 1984; infant daughter, Anna Marie; infant son, Victor; and son, Bernard; infant brothers, Cyril and Isidore Borgerding; brothers, Robert, Ambrose, Cyril, Roman, and Paul Borgerding; sister, Louise Brix; and grandson, Clifford Nienaber.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jeff Nienaber, Kate Hagen, David Nienaber, Bryon Nienaber, Cindy Graton, and Matthew Nienaber. Serving as cross bearer will be Linda Rheaume. Honorary bearers will be Golden Years Senior Citizens, Christian Mothers, and Sacred Heart Catholic Aid Society.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
