Marie E. Korf, age 100 of Elrosa, was welcomed into heaven on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at her home in Elrosa, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 8 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa with Rev. Joseph Korf officiating and Rev. Peter Kirchner presiding. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 7 and one hour prior to the service Monday, all at the church. A rosary will be prayed by the Christian Mothers at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m.
Marie Elizabeth Meyer was born August 19, 1915 in Meire Grove, Minnesota to Bernard and Rose (Imdieke) Meyer. Marie grew up on the family farm in Meire Grove and attended school through 8th grade. She married Elmer Korf on June 2, 1941 at St. John Catholic Church in Meire Grove. Marie was a very gentle, faith-filled woman, who loved Jesus. She attended daily mass and received the Eucharist. Daily prayer influenced her life. The lessons she taught to her children included the love of God and the love of family. Marie enjoyed quilting, gardening, playing cards, embroidering, and participating in parish activities.
Marie was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa, Christian Mothers, Elrosa Senior Citizens, and Catholic United Financial. Marie was also a faith formation teacher.
Marie, loved by her children, Giles Korf of Elrosa, Margaret (Ken) Elis of Sunset Beach, NC, Mary Ellen (Don) Simon of Rockville, Father Joseph Korf of Staples, Rebecca (Anthony) Strupeck of Port St. Lucie, FL, Norma (Douglas) Mahal of Lake City, Steven Korf of Sauk Centre, Irene Korf of Port St. Lucie, FL, John (Peggy) Korf of St. Cloud, and Dolores Korf of Port St. Lucie, FL; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Irene Kincannon, Marion Korf, and Harriet Sailer; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents, Bernard and Rose; and brother and sisters, Edwin Meyer, Thecla Caspers, Alma Meyer, Verena Marthaler, and Marina Botz.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
