Marie "Jo" Cater, age 88 of Sauk Centre, died on Monday, July 19, 2004 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 22 at the Church of the Good Samaritan in Sauk Centre. Rev. Doris Dodds will officiate with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre.
Jo Cater was born on November 12, 1915 in Ashley Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Carl and Mable (Gray) Hildebrand. On December 27, 1947 she was united in marriage to Fred Kenna at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Fred died in 1949. She was a teacher for 14 years in country schools in central Minnesota. She received her bachelor's degree in 1951 and taught first grade at Chelsea Heights School in St. Paul for 26 years. She married Norman Cater on August 17, 1958 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale near Nashua, Iowa. Norman died in 1981 and she moved back to Sauk Centre. She was a member of the Church of the Good Samaritan in Sauk Centre.
She is survived by a sister, Ivy Hildebrand of Sauk Centre; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; sister, Nellie Sullivan; and brother, Carl Hildebrand.
Serving as casket bearers will be Denny, Pat and Matt Sullivan, Bill, Dick and Erik Hildebrand.
