Marguerite E. Mayer, age 98 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Friday, April 24, 2009 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 28 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. James Statz will officiate with interment following in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers rosary at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Marguerite Jude was born July 19, 1910 in Maple Lake, Minnesota to Charles and Mary (O'Laughlin) Jude. On June 20, 1938 she married Dr. Andrew Mayer at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Maple Lake. She was a graduate of Maple Lake High School and the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota. She taught elementary school at St. Luke's School in St. Paul and at the Glenwood, Minnesota elementary school.
Marguerite was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, and the College of St. Catherine Alumni Association.
Survivors include sons and daughter, Dr. David Mayer (Mary K.) and Thomas Mayer (Mary), all of Sauk Centre, Ann Geagan (Robert) of Mt. Dora, Florida; nine grandchildren, Paul Mayer (Nicole) of Duluth, Mark Mayer (Jennifer) and Ann Mayer-Guell (David), all of Maple Grove, Kate Mayer of St. Paul, Mitchell Mayer (Paula) of New Prague, Timothy Mayer (Susie) of Crystal, Molly Mayer McKinney (Will) of Sartell, Peter Scheveling (Natalie) and Jude Scheveling, all of Mt. Dora, Florida; and ten great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Ethan, and Charlie Guell, Grace, Faith, Ella, Annie, Madison, and Peyton Mayer, and Luke Scheveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Andrew Mayer on June 26, 1994; brothers, David, Benjamin, Raymond, Frank, Walter, and Fr. Russell Jude; sisters, Mabel Wollan, Agnes Knoll, and Myrtle Caley.
Serving as casket bearers will be her grandsons, Paul, Mark, Mitchell, and Timothy Mayer, Peter and Jude Scheveling. Cross bearer will be Joan Tegels. Honorary bearers will be Dick and Joan Tegels, Steve and Patrick Kane, Robert Polipnick, Paul Borgmann, Alvin Welle, and Alyce Hintzen.
