Margaret T. "Marge" Roering, age 92, of Melrose, died Friday, March 28, 2008 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment will be in the St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Mothers, Saints Bernard & Elizabeth Council, and Women's Catholic Order of Foresters will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Margaret Theresa Roering was born March 28, 1916 in Oak Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Anton and Margaret (Klein) Nathe. She married Sylvester "Ves" Roering on September 21, 1936 in Willmar, MN. Margaret was a homemaker and later a LPN practicing nursing at the Melrose Hospital, Pine Villa Nursing Home and St. Michael's Nursing Home. Margaret was an avid golfer and bowler having won numerous trophies and club championships. She also enjoyed watching all sporting events, sewing, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family. She was an active member of the Christian Mothers, Saints Bernard & Elizabeth Council, and the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters.
Margaret is survived by her children, Ronald Roering (Julie) of Brandon, MN, Rita Lorsung (Darcy, Jr.) of Mission, Texas, Douglas Roering (Sigrid) of Bad Homburg, Germany, Debra Bercier (Byron) of White Bear Lake, MN, Patrick Roering (Nancy) of Glenwood, MN; 16 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; and her friend and nurse, Shirley Tschida.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Margaret (Klein) Nathe; husband, Sylvester "Ves" Roering on June 15, 1995; sons, Charles on November 1, 1955, Reginald on February 26, 1997; sisters and brothers, Catherine Hoppe, Loretta Linn, John, James, Anton, George, Casper and Fr. Gerard Nathe, O.S.B.
Serving as casket bearers will be Pat Roering, Darcy Lorsung, Jr., Byron Bercier, Ross Bercier, Ron Roering and Mike Roering. Cross bearer will be Katie Roering and scripture bearer will be Emily Roering. Gift bearers will be Julie Roering and Nancy Roering. Petitions will be read by Krista Roering. Eucharistic Ministers will be Irene Pohlman and Julie Roering. Readers will be Lynn Dahlheimer and Katie Roering. Words of Remembrance will be by Darcy Lorsung.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Park View Chapel in Melrose, MN
