Margaret Anne Sogge, age 84 of Sauk Centre, died Monday, December 12, 2011 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota after a 4 1/2 month struggle in hospitals and a rapid recovery center for multiple health issues. She was able to return home to Fairway Pines in Sauk Centre where she spent the last week of her life with Jerry, her husband of 63 1/2 years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and one hour prior to the service at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 6 p.m. and Eagles Auxiliary at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Anne Sogge was born February 25, 1927 in Bancroft, Iowa to Charles and Marie (Saunders/Rammer) Skilling. She was a 1945 graduate of Windom High School and was employed for three years at First National Bank in Windom. On March 19, 1948 she married Ansel "Jerry" Sogge in Windom. After her marriage she worked at the Cottonwood County courthouse until 1951, when they moved to a farm near Grove City. In 1960 they moved to a farm near West Union where they lived and raised their children. After retiring from farming in 1982 they moved into Sauk Centre. Many years later, they moved to Sartell where they resided for five years before returning back to Sauk Centre where their hearts belonged.Anne enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking, watching the Twins, and games shows. Along with family members she established the Sauk Centre Annual Community Christmas Dinner in the mid-1990's.

Anne was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Sauk Centre Seniors, Sinclair Lewis Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and the Community Concert Association.

Survivors include her husband, Ansel "Jerry" Sogge of Sauk Centre; eight children, Mary Anne (Larry) Baker of Litchfield, James (Kathleen) Sogge of Paynesville, David Sogge of Blaine, Rev. Carol Jean (Rev. Geary) Smith of Sauk Rapids, Patrick (Joanne) Sogge of Prior Lake, Kathryn (Dale) Struffert of Sartell, Janet (John) Tracy of Ramsey, and John (Bobbi Jo) Sogge of Prior Lake; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Banal of Sauk Centre; sisters-in-law, Bert Chewning of Edina, Carol Harder of Mountain Lake, Laura Sogge of Osakis, and Benny (Bob) Deming of Alexandria; and brother-in-law, Johnny (Lois) Sogge of Augusta, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jeffery Scott Baker; brother-in-law, Dr. Henry Banal; and nephew, Dominic Banal.

Serving as casket bearers will be Christopher Sogge, Brandon Sogge, Jeremy Sogge, Andrew Struffert, Jesse Smith, Justin Smith, Tom Banal and Mark Banal with Staff Sgt. Erik Sogge, stationed in Iraq, serving as honorary bearer. Cross bearer will be Ian Sogge and scripture bearer will be Dylan Sogge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
